Who We Are
Sit Smart Dog Training is a full-service training company based in Decatur, GA servicing the greater Atlanta area. Recognizing that every dog and client are unique, we create a custom training plan for each client that acknowledges the specific needs of both you and your dog. We teach you to better understand the nuanced way dogs communicate through body language and behavior to better understand the things your dog wants and needs. That allows you to give your dog what they want in return for what you want. This collaborative learning helps you and your dog enjoy a lifetime of empathy, growth, and joy.
Bryan Kolton is the owner of Sit Smart Dog Training. Prior to working with dogs, Bryan served in the USMC where he observed military working dogs in action while deployed overseas. This was his first experience with seeing what a trained dog could do. After his enlistment ended, Bryan moved from NC to Atlanta and got his first job working with dogs in 2013. He hasn’t looked back since! After getting his CPDT-KA certification, Bryan started Sit Smart Dog Training and has since focused on helping as many dogs as possible.
Jessica “Theodora” Stansel grew up around dogs and has always loved them, but she first had the opportunity to work with dogs in 2023 when she joined Sit Smart Dog Training. She showed a natural talent for the work and learned that she was also passionate about it despite how hard, and sometimes scary, it can be. She quickly moved up to the SSDT boarding manager position and has been responsible for making sure the boarding clients get pictures, videos, and updates every day on top of ensuring that the dogs are happy and cared for. She is now in the process of getting her CPDT apprentice training hours in hopes that she can take the certification test in the spring of 2027.
